Finally the Answer
I took Larkin to the pediatric gastro dude yesterday. The diagnosis is IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). All we can do is continue with the Miralax on an 'as needed' basis. The doctor said that this is a life long condition, but she will cycle through times when everything is working fine and times when she'll need the miralax. I asked the doctor if there are foods to avoid and foods to push. She said 'no'. Generally, dairy can cause problems, but Larkin still needs dairy so feed it to her and stay on top of the miralax. This is genetic (thanks Grandpa Smith). There are others in my family with this condition. It's no big deal, just something we have to deal with. We're happy to have a diagnosis and that it's a common condition and very treatable. All in all...good news. We'll take it!

I was diagnosed with IBS when I was 14. Sugar is my worst enemy! If I stay away from that I'm usually okay. Poor Larkin!
Yay for a diagnosis!!! I am sure it is a relief just to know what it is. Little Larky is the cutest thing ever and I love those birthday pics!
Good tip Natalie, Thanks!! I'll TRY and keep her from sugar....wish me luck. Um, Happy Halloween.
Not to be nosy, but was just cruisg blogs during my lunch hour and read about your daughter. I felt the need to just mention something in case it will be helpful. I was concerened, because I too was diagnosed with IBS which has now become a catch all diagnosis. Has she been checked for celiac disease or a Gluten allergy? I was diagnosed with IBS 11 years ago and it turned out I really had a gluten allergy! The stuff the doctor was prescribing made it worse because it had wheat in it!! I have been off for 10 years now and only have problems when I accidentally get "poisoned" by wheat or some other form of gluten. I was having milk problems at the time too, but since being off gluten, I can have milk again. I hope you will look into this and best of health to your family!
